Accepted file formats for PCB layout

The accepted data formats for PCB layout data

Accepted Intelligent Artwork & Drilling File formats

Accepted Intelligent files:

✓  IPC-2581  version B
     -  short name: IPC-2581B
   -  IPC-2581 is a new standard from the IPC (International Printed Circuit association),  was developed as an "intelligent" data format.
The beauty of IPC-2581 is that it generates a single XML file ( *.xml or *.cvg ) which is capable of including all information needed to fabricate. IPC-2581 appears to be the best way forward.
   -  for more information about IPC-2581 [click here] .

✓  ODB++
     -  ODB++ (Open Data Base) provides an intelligent, single data-structure for transferring PCB designs into fabrication.
ODB++ is an ideal format for transferring design data through to manufacturing.
   - developed by: Mentor Graphics
   - for more information about ODB++ [click here] .

 ✗  IPC-2581 Version A  ( IPC-2581A ) is not accepted.

ARTWORK

Artwork means all copper layers, soldermask and legend layers, board outline or mechanical layer, SMD paste layers, carbon layers, peel-off layers, etc.

Accepted artwork files:

 ✓  Gerber version 2
       -  short name: Gerber x2
       - developed by Ucamco
       - for more information about Gerber x2 [click here] .

 ✓  Gerber version 1
     -  short name: Gerber x1
   - also known as Extended Gerber, Gerber X or RS-274X
     - developed by Ucamco

✗  Any other artwork file type is not accepted for now, Including Standard Gerber, also known as RS-274D (obsolete since June 2014).
The PDF files is not accepted also.

DRILLING

Accepted drilling files:

 ✓  Excellon
       -  plus appropriate tool list (which is normally/ideally embedded as file header)
       -  for more information about Excellon file format [click here] .

 ✓  Gerber (version 1 or version 2)
       -  Only true drill data, not as drill map

✗  Any other drilling file type is not accepted for now, Including Sieb & Meyer formats is not accepted.
The PDF files is not accepted also.
Logic Need strongly recommend the new "intelligent" file formats ( IPC-2581B / ODB++ / Gerber X2 ) over the old formats (Gerber RS-274X artwork files / Excellon drilling files) to ensure superior manufacturability, quality, reliability and consistency.
